Oriental Salad


I received this recipe from a friend in Minnetonka, MN. It makes lots, and can be made ahead, keeping the "components" separate until serving time. When you add some chopped, cooked chicken or turkey, this salad makes a great lunch.

Chop, Mix, and Chill:

1 large head of Napa lettuce or cabbage or, in a pinch, head lettuce
6 green onions

Sauté & Chill:

2 pkgs Raman noodles from soup, broken up (discard flavor packet)
6 oz. slivered almonds
4 oz. sesame seeds or shelled sunflower seeds
cup butter


1 cup vegetable oil
1 cup white sugar
cup white vinegar
3 tablespoons soy sauce

Combine mixtures just before serving. (A little dressing goes a long way.)
