Broccoli Salad


I received this recipe from my friend, Susan. She recommends that if you plan to serve it at someone else's house, dress the salad there, adding the sunflower seeds last to avoid saturation and soggy seeds. It is a delightful salad, and she says it is always a crowd pleaser.

1 1/2 lb. broccoli
1/2 red onion
1 cup mushrooms
1 cup sunflower seeds
1/2 cup golden raisins
1/2 lb. bacon (optional)

1 cup mayonnaise
2 tablespoons red wine vinegar
1/4 cup sugar


Chop the first three ingredients. Add the next two.

Cook the bacon until well cooked, crumble or chop, and set aside.

Mix the dressing well, stir into the salad. Put the salad into a serving bowl and top with the bacon.
