3 egg whites, room temperature
¼ tsp. cream of tartar
1 cup granulated sugar (white)
1 cup chocolate wafer crumbs (Oreo crumbs)
½ cup finely chopped walnuts
1 cup whipping cream (or 1 env. topping)
1 tbsp.granulated sugar (white)
1 tsp. Vanilla
1 oz. semi-sweet or bittersweet chocolate
- Beat egg whites and cream of tartar until soft peaks form. Add sugar gradually, beating until stiff.
- Fold in chocolate crumbs and nuts. Spread in a buttered 10 inch pie plate, spreading well up the sides. Bake at 325° F for 35 minutes. Cool.
- Whip cream, sugar, and vanilla until stiff. Spread over top of cooled meringue. Shave chocolate over the cream. Chill at least 3 hours before serving.
