This is a special treat that is relatively easy to make.


3 egg whites, room temperature
tsp. cream of tartar
1 cup granulated sugar (white)
1 cup chocolate wafer crumbs (Oreo crumbs)
cup finely chopped walnuts


1 cup whipping cream (or 1 env. topping)
1 tbsp.granulated sugar (white)
1 tsp. Vanilla
1 oz. semi-sweet or bittersweet chocolate


  1. Beat egg whites and cream of tartar until soft peaks form. Add sugar gradually, beating until stiff.
  2. Fold in chocolate crumbs and nuts. Spread in a buttered 10 inch pie plate, spreading well up the sides. Bake at 325 F for 35 minutes. Cool.
  3. Whip cream, sugar, and vanilla until stiff. Spread over top of cooled meringue. Shave chocolate over the cream. Chill at least 3 hours before serving.
